2008 Ceremony
The prize ceremony was held at the Swiss Re Building, St Mary Axe in London in November 2008. The Main Prize was won by Cont Mhlanga, a Zimbabwean playwright for his satire on the Mugabe regime.
The Prize was presented by award winning playwright Sir Tom Stoppard: "My participation in the Freedom to Create Prize was my first contact with this truly admirable enterprise. It is important that abuses of human rights are attacked from all sides of every free society."
