2009 Ceremony

The award ceremony was held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London on 25 November 2009. The Main Prize was presented by international human rights activist Bianca Jagger, who is a Council of Europe Goodwill Ambassador, a member of the Executive Director's Leadership Council of Amnesty International USA, and founder of the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation.

Leading human rights expert, Geoffrey Robertson QC presented the Youth Prize while acclaimed documentary maker Nick Broomfield announced the Imprisoned Artist Prize.

The evening closed with a performance by Emmanuel Jal, former child soldier and now internationally acclaimed musician.
