Right at the heart of the Egyptian Revolution in Tahrir Square, Arabian Knightz have continued to pursue their long standing mission – to push for equality and unity between all religions and colours. ‘Not Your Prisoner’ calls for people to stand up and demand their rights, and ask for the end of injustice in Egypt and the Middle East, and for unity between Muslims and Christians.
With their music, they continue to raise awareness amongst young Egyptians about the real issues facing their country and were inspired to hear many of the protesters in Tahrir Square chanting the lyrics of ‘Not Your Prisoner’ to keep their spirits strong and push for real change. The song has become synonymous across the world with the Egyptian Revolution, despite the risks and threats the group faced from the previous Egyptian government that their music would always remain ‘hidden under the sun’.
