The decades-long violent conflict in Colombia between outlawed armed groups, drug cartels and the government has devastated normal civilians. Their lives are a struggle against gross violations of human rights, one of the world's highest murder rates and the societal strains around the reintegration of child soldiers. By using delicate embroidery and her grandmother's handkerchiefs to depict an unstable social reality, Adriana engages with the contradictions triggered by the economically troubled and violent aspects of her day-to-day life. Delicado especially addresses the hardship of women. Comprised of four vintage handkerchiefs, the embroidered pieces also carry small objects such as toy guns which further reflect her harsh existence.
