The Price of Sex
Artform: Photography and Video
Through photography and video, Mimi explores the cycle of sex trafficking from those countries where women are sourced, transited through and eventually arrive to work. She has covered the high schools and orphanages of the villages of Moldova and Albania, and passed through transit countries such as Bulgaria and Macedonia, notorious for the brothels and hotels that break down the womens unwillingness to work as prostitutes. Through powerful images, her work takes us inside the dynamics that underlie trafficking so that we might understand them from the women's perspectives. Mimi spent years building relationships with women survivors and has sensitively captured their stories and images on video and in still photographs.
