For almost 40 years, Suleiman Mansour has been a pivotal cultural leader in Palestine. His artwork has played a crucial and empowering role within Palestinian society, reflecting Palestinian identity and offering hope and inspiration through the creation and promulgation of the visual arts. For Palestinians, he provides a sense of appreciation and pride in their cultural heritage and traditions. His work also promotes creativity and free self-expression and offers a humanistic and non-violent path for resisting oppression and occupation. Mansour's work and his persona came to be identified with the Palestinians strong attachment and rootedness in their ancestral homeland, known as Sumud, (steadfast).
