Cedou Kadima
Main Prize - 2009
Cedou is a survivor of the war which ravaged the population of the Democratic Republic of Congo between 2008 and 2009. He wants to portray the innocent people dying in the presence of their enemy, and highlight his belief that the government did nothing to make the rebels go away - "instead they allowed them to stay and profit from theft and the breakdown of our economy and the countrys riches." Education is also an issue close to Cedou's heart as the youth represent the future of a country. He believes that the ever-increasing numbers of street children and rates of illiteracy are a very real danger for his country - and hopes that his work can "send out an S.O.S. that this is an issue which concerns all of us. We must find a solution."
