'The 99' was created by Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa to provide alternative role models and heroes to children in the Islamic world. From the sources from which others have extracted only negative and violent messages, he has chosen to emphasise tolerance and multiculturalism. 'The 99' is a comic book series that has 99 heroes from 99 countries working together to make the world a better place. These heroes are powered by stones that have the collective wisdom of all civilisations. It sends out a clear message that in terms of fundamental values, all human beings are the same. The enemies of our heroes are those who obstruct progress and tolerance.
