HaaRnick

Main Prize - 2009
Energetic Hip Hop is a form of protest in Iran. This duo has performed in Iranian universities and continued to post songs online during the recent brutal crackdown in the aftermath of the disputed 2009 election results. The lyrics for 'Bia Bia' are about hope and happiness. They sing: "We can use brightness instead of darkness, we could sing about love and hope again, we could clear the hate and make some hopeless people happy. No, no tear and sorrow is enough, Shame on destiny and old traditions, All of us are tired so lets dance with us and forget the grief, We should bury the despondency and hopeless." HaaRnick says their name is a description of the old culture of Iran. This name comes from happiness, welfare and wellbeing.
