Kianoush Ramezani

Main Prize - Commended 2010
Kianoush Ramezani's political cartoons voice the Iranian people's sharp and popularly held critisim of their government. The published images include explicit support for the anti-dictatorship Green Movement and claims of election fraud in Iran.

After speaking out in 2009 in response to the highly contraversional Iranian elections, Kianoush was forced to flee Iran under threat of imminent arrest. His name has since been blacklisted by the Islamic Republic.

From exile in France, Kianoush cannot forget the sacrifices made by his countrymen and women. Since his exile Kianoush has invited cartoonists of the world to send him their own artworks in support of the Iranian Green Movement. His international Exile Cartoon Expo will open in Paris on 3 May - with 40 of the world's top cartoonists participating.
