Theatre and Reconciliation

Decades of civil war and crippling poverty have made Burundi one of the 10 poorest countries in the world. Acts of torture have been regularly committed, though not openly acknowledged. 'Theatre and Reconciliation' brings together former prisoners of the state and former military men who committed atrocities during the war. Together, they stage a play for their peers, allowing the country's violent past to be explored openly and peacefully.
